Greener raises $4m to help consumers cut through the greenwashing

Image
An app aimed at making every dollar we spend carbon-neutral has raised $4 million towards its mission, which has so far attracted partners ranging from Microsoft to Doorstep Organics, Zero Co to Single Use Ain't Sexy and more.  Co-founded in 2019 by Tom Ferrier and Neil McVeigh, Greener has sought to tackle a pervading sense of powerlessness amongst consumers when they want to buy from genuinely sustainable brands and sift through the greenwashing noise. The solution was a digital platform that allows consumers to "vote with their wallets" in response to climate change, utilising banking technology so they can track the impact of their spend and find personalised greener alternatives for everything they buy. Coles partners with Wing for drone delivery service in select Gold Coast suburbs

Image
Quite literally unafraid of reaching new heights, Coles (ASX: COL) is partnering with Alphabet-owned tech company Wing to provide Australia’s first “store-to-door” drone delivery service in select Gold Coast suburbs. Customers in the suburbs of Ormeau, Ormeau Hills, and Yatala will be among the first to pilot the service, offering grocery delivery in minutes from the Coles store at Ormeau Village Shopping Centre. Nearby suburbs will gradually be added to the drone network, which is set to deliver 500 of the most popular groceries such as bread, fresh produce, snacks and more. The move comes seven months after Coles ran a successful pilot program in Canberra, where more than 5,000 deliveries were made through the Wing application. BetaCarbon’s blockchain carbon-trading platform rides ‘massive tailwinds’ of change

Image
Sydney-based fintech BetaCarbon this week launched its blockchain-supported carbon trading platform that company founder and CEO Guy Dickinson says is capitalising on ‘massive tailwinds’ driving the sector. With the implementation of aggressive net zero targets at the government and corporate level, Dickinson says the timing is right to ‘democratise’ an asset class that until now in Australia has been the domain of about 60 institutional investors. Dickinson, the former Australian and New Zealand head of markets and treasurer for HSBC, has worked with carbon credits for some time during his corporate career. But it was 2021, at the height of the pandemic as he spent six months cloistered in Bowral, that Dickinson took a ‘deep interest’ in the asset class. Six lessons from growing a global business

Image
Eight years after launching Aircall, we have recently achieved a US$100 million ARR, entering a fairly small circle of Centaur companies. On paper, it sounds like rapid and consistent growth, but behind the scenes, it wasn’t always a smooth ride. Sure, you can have a great idea for a new service or product, but so many aspects of execution can go wrong along the way. In fact, statistics from the ABS indicate that about 48 per cent of Aussie startups launched in 2017 did not survive beyond 2021, which was even higher than the 10 year average (<40 per cent). And among them, many were probably profitable.  Read More: https://www.businessnewsaustralia.com/blog/six-lessons-from-growing-a-global-business

Under the agreement, Equipmake will supply an advanced, lightweight electric motor system for Gilmour Space’s Eris rockets which are set to take their first commercial payload from the company’s Bowen Orbital Spaceport in north Queensland next year.
